    One thing that's pretty corny about this book is that all the additional characters are actually cameos from other Joyce works. It's like the Star Wars prequels. Hey, look: Bloom made C3P0!

    If Joyce character cameos were the most gimmicky thing in this book, we'd be in much better shape by the end of it.

    I kind of like the cameo. Faulkner does this and my guilty pleasure, Anne Tyler does too.
